I'm Richard - Welcome to the website. At www.modernhomesteadingskills.org I hope to inspire, educate, motivate and have a little fun. I'm a DIY kind of guy with a big goal; to turn a wooded lot into a modern working homestead. I have some skills, learning more all the time. As I learn, I hope to document my failures and triumphs in hopes of educating and entertaining you. Back in 2014, I purchased a wooded, hilly lot in north Georgia with the goal of creating a homestead that I can retire to in a few years. Doing construction after work, on weekends and more than a few holidays, here we are today, an acre cleared, leveled, metal garage built, and nearing completion of stage one of my home, a straw bale cottage. Over my 50+ years, I have acquired many skills that I want to share. But keep in mind, there is always something new to learn with homesteading.
On this Home Page, let me break up the meaning of Modern...Homesteading...Skills to help explain what I mean.
