About Me
So, you want to learn more about me. I'm 50+, live in north Georgia and married. We have a blended family with several children, most are young adults and living out on there own. I work in technology support and recently retired from the military reserves after nearly 34 years of service. I have always had a love of nature and attended college with a major in Biology. I did not complete that degree, but years later did complete a degree in Technology. I guess, combining technology and my love of nature makes a lot more sense now that I think about it. I consider myself a "Jack of all Trades" and some would say, "expert at none." With all the skills I have learned, I hope to pass on some of them to others on this site and on my homestead using hands on training. "Learning by Doing" will be my motto.
This website will grow with time, so be patient, it is a work in progress. What I hope to do is have a clearing house for ideas, knowledge of modern homesteading skills. A place to come and read, watch videos and interact with other like minded people. My main goal will be to share my knowledge with others. It is my firm belief that knowledge is meant to be shared. Once a person reaches 50+, it is time to share that knowledge with others. Now, don't get me wrong, I am still learning new skills all the time. But, I will never teach anything I do not have a firm grasp on. That said, everyone hones their own skills over time. I have been told I am a good teacher/ instructor. I simply teach like I like to learn...in threes. First rule is keep it simple, the KIS system. The second rule is to teach in threes...an overview, details, then a summary of what was learned. Or, put another way, a 10,000 foot view, a close up view and then your hands on with me by your side to be there for questions or to keep you on task. Any way you look at it, learning by doing is always much better that reading alone, or watching a video that can't answer your questions. I do plan on having written instructions and videos...in the future, but that will come with time. Everyone remembers longer if they "get their hands dirty" by "learning by doing".
This website will continue to evolve, so come back and see what changes. In the mean time, thanks for being here and drop a message if you have a question.
